Western Avenue Studios: Open Studios
Posted on June 23rd, 2010 No commentsI recently visited the very cool Western Avenue Studios in Lowell. The two old mill buildings have been refurbished into over 143 artists studios with over 200 artists working there. The artists working there include photographers, sculptors, painters, mixed media artists, jewelry-makers, fiber & textile artists and many others.
On the first Saturday of each month, the Western Ave Studios offer Open Studios from noon to 5:00PM. Visitors are welcomed to tour the complex and meet the artists working there. They also have a great coffee shop on the premises and offer many events throughout they year including a special holiday event in early December.
Chronicle recently profiled the Western Avenue Studios for a show on local Art Colonies. Their next Open Studio will be on Saturday, July 3rd.

Scott Kelby’s Annual Worldwide Photowalk
Posted on June 1st, 2010 No commentsScott Kelby has launched the registration for his third annual Worldwide Photowalk for July 24th. This is a fun free event. It’s a great opportunity to meet fellow photography enthusiasts and photograph together in a group (Each photowalk group is limited to 50 participants). Last year there were over 900 locations available. Each walk has a leader and all participants may enter their photographs from the Photowalk to win a copy of Scott Kelby’s new Lightroom book or CS5 book.
